When I finally let him in the car, he said, “Yeah, I knew you’d come back for me. You need help carrying all of this.”
The same theory holds true with our emotions.
Psalm 34:18 says, “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”
Everyone goes through heartache.
But while some feel that the weight of the world is pushing them down, those who place their trust in Christ are not.
They may have a broken heart, but they aren’t overcome by it; they have someone to help carry the load.
Jesus said, in Matthew 11:28-30, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
That’s the promise reinforced!
The Lord is “near the brokenhearted” by inviting us to rest in Him!
Today, as you pray, ask Jesus to help you carry your burdens.
We know there will still be trouble (John 16:33b, “In the world you will have tribulation.).
But we know who wins in the end (John 16:33c, “But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
He won’t make problems disappear, but when Jesus walks beside you, you never have to carry them all by yourself.
NOTE: Feel free to comment, but these prayer prompts are meant to be between you and God. Matthew 6:6 — But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
